DynoBox is a virtual Dynamometer to measure the performance, speed and power of your car with the accelerometer (not the GPS receiver) of your iPhone. DynoBox tracks the acceleration of your car, calculates speed, distance and performance and plots it into an easily readable graph.

Choose from a wide variety of units to measure the time and speed your car achieves on the Quartermile or measure how long it takes to get to a certain speed. DynoBox can also calculate the actual power your car produces.

The calibration screen helps you to position your iPhone for maximum accuracy. Please note, that the iPhone has to be placed in a car mount to work accurately.

After each run you can review every split-second by sliding your finger over the display of your iPhone.

The last runs are saved and can be reviewed later.

In addition you will find the current lateral (sideways) force on the bottom of the screen, along with a "Max lateral force" display.

DYNOBOX USES THE MOTION SENSORS OF THE IPHONE TO DETECT THE SPEED. SO IT WILL SHOW FUNNY NUMBERS WHEN YOU HOLD IT IN YOUR HAND. YOU NEED TO ATTACH IT TO THE DASHBOARD OF YOUR CAR!

Test the performance of your Ford, GM, Chrysler, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mustang, Corvette, Viper or any other car you want. Other car performance apps are: SpeedBox and Dynolicious

Pros and cons of DynoBox app for iPhone and iPad

DynoBox app good for

Good app, actually works. But the version i downloaded cant change the weight of the car - it just wont save, thus 4-stars Id add course plotting (we all have GPS in our devices ;) ), capability to compare the laps or runs... Have more ideas
Within two runs I had about 50hp ran run, maybe its me, but I think that pocketsyno is better. Id reccomend it.
Very accurate, my Truck Dynoed 260. This App shows 254. Edit~Are we ever gonna get an update to address certain problems within the app?

Some bad moments

Total disaster! In my car which have 287 hp shows from 124 to 220 hp and time 0-100 from 7 to 9 min. Graphs are not clear, and small number of options.
If you just hold it in your hand at your house, I will stand still and it will say that Im going 20km/hr-50. I didnt move more than two inches and it said I moved 80 meters.... thats pretty off if you ask me
I cant comment on the accuracy of this application because I havent been to the strip to compare it against track timers, but I can say that the timings and speeds are in line with PocketDyno. BUT, there are LOTS of missing features. You cant save a run. Imagine that you make a run, then switch to another app on the iPhone, then switch back to DynoBox - your most recent run is GONE!!! How lame is that!!! The app doesnt capture and accumulate the important details of a 1/4 mile run like the 60, 330, 1/8 mile, and 1000 times. PocketDyno makes DynoBox look like a beginners POOR attempt at professional software development.
Even after calibrating and mounting to a vibration isolated pad, this software actually logs a reading about one time in ten. Dont know what the magic touch is to get it to start logging. Its just very sporadic. Not worth $.99.
